The Ministry of Justice engaged Malatest International in 2022 to undertake a series of focus groups with people impacted by adoption and those who have an interest in adoption in Aotearoa New Zealand. Seven sessions were held in June, July and August 2022 - four online and three in-person.
The Ministry intends to use the findings from Malatest’s consultation to inform the final package of adoption law reform proposals the Ministry says will be presented to the Minister of Justice, Hon Kiri Allan, in the first half of 2023.
